Sannish is a coppery powder derived from the plant yaran that is usually snorted or rubbed on the gums to induce an energetic high. It is used throughout the [[Northlands]], but can only be grown in the warmer climate of the [[Oenician Republics]]. After being harvested and prepared it is smuggled by caravan or ship to the north where it is sold to both ghetto-bound addicts and well-to-do nobles. The frequent use of sannish produces an unsightly copper coloration of the nose, which has given rise to the pejoratives of "copper-nose" and "sannish-fiend."
