Unlike the rest of [[Oenician Republics|Oenicia]], Eradus refused to adopt democratic rule, and is instead governed by the merchant-princes of the Triuvrato: representatives of the city’s three most powerful trading companies. This represents a grander tradition of Eradus: an unwavering devotion to cutthroat mercantilism. Contrary to most other folk, the greatest fear of Eradians is not death, but indentured servitude. Those who fail to pay their debts to the Triuvrato can legally be bound to labor for them until they deem the debt repaid, a fate which is often worse than slavery.
