Eventually, a violent slave rebellion broke out in response to abhorrent conditions and the corruption of the Vherentian Senate. With this reckoning, the Free City was born: the Senate was abolished, slavery was outlawed, and the [[Hand of Alor|Hand]] was exiled from the city for their part in maintaining the status quo. Since then, Vherentys has transformed into Runera’s second largest and most diverse city.
