Once a united nation, Wlendén is now a war-torn land comprising the petty and bickering kingdoms of Dol Erath, Gwanedd, Povyr, Maredigion, Habeurath, and Bryn Brocél. In ages past, [[Men|Manfolk]] called Ionwy dwelt within Wlendén’s vast grasslands and marshes, while [[Wood Elves|Glamílfran]] clans founded great realms within its verdant forests. But after [[Coalescence]], the legendary Eusowydd united the Ionwy and these woodlands were cleansed of their feyness through fire and pitch. Since this genocide, the survivors’ descendants have suffered unending persecution at the hands of Wlendén’s [[Men|men]], most infamously in the tradition of Wlend kings keeping a harem of [[Elves|elvish]] concubines as part of their royal court. Yet even the [[Men|Manfolk]] of Wlendén know no peace; groups of rebels who resent the levies and laws of their overlords demand a return to the “Old Way” of the Ionwy through violent guerrilla attacks which often harm many innocents. With unrelenting war, famine, and plague, the divisions of Wlendén grew only deeper as the country was shattered into a fractured rummage of puny kingdoms who now mar the land with their avarice and bloodlust.
