Istar is the god of the sky and storms. Some cults who revere him speak of his great battle with [[Tohr]], god of war, for the love of [[Myr]], goddess of the sea. Legend says [[Tohr]]'s Sword of Justice clashed with Istar's great hammer Stormbringer, creating a storm so ferocious it threatened to eat the world, and it was only when [[Tohr]] cut out Istar's left eye that peace returned. Istar is favored by barbaric warriors seeking his tempest-like battle fury, seafarers hoping to evade his jealous wrath, and intrepid mountaineers wishing to explore treacherous peaks unscathed. Istar's symbol is simply a lightning bolt, and he is typically portrayed as a feather-covered [[Men|man]] with an eagle's head who has two great wings erupting from his back and is wielding the legendary Stormbringer. - **Other Names:** The Stormbringer, Tunor, Lughan, Stribog - **Related Activities:** Sky-shouting; mountain climbing; mountain sacrifices; kite-flying; rain dancing; weather forecasting; performing sky-burials.
