Elves, or Ílfran, are an ancient race who are at once the inheritors of a mysterious birthright and the oppressed survivors of countless tragedies. Most infamously, they were forced to flee their homeland of the Elderwood during the [[Coalescence]] and were subsequently enslaved by the [[Hand of Alor|Hand]] for centuries. Unlike [[Men|Manfolk]], elves cannot grow facial hair and have pointed ears. Their saucer-like eyes are large and entirely black, save for their pupils, which allow them to see better beneath the shadowy canopies of ancient forests. They also possess pointed teeth and pronounced fangs, similar to those of a wolf. Often they use these teeth to feast upon the fresh corpses of their enemies, whether they be beasts, [[monsters]], or even other Children of [[Alor]]. There are two common breeds of elves in Runera: [[Wood Elves|wood elves]] and [[High Elves|high elves]]. All elves possess the following traits:
- **Age:** Though it is said elves can live for upwards of five centuries, most are claimed by disease, war, or hardship before they see their hundredth name-days.
- **Young-middle aged:** 15 + (2d4 x 1d4) years.
- **Old:** 70 + (1d6 x 1d8) years.
- **Size:** Elves are slim and of medium height, averaging 5 – 5.5 ft and 80 – 130 lbs.
- **Frail:** You have Disadvantage on *[[Luck]]* (Con) saves and Con checks.
- **Nightsight:** You have better night vision than most [[Men|men]], but are just as blind in the absence of light.
- **Lithe:** You gain Advantage when making defensive *[[Luck]]* (Dex) saves.
- **Móríoghan's Fangs:** You may use an action to eat the corpse of an edible creature to regain a number of hit points equal to double your level. In addition, if you eat the corpse of a monster you have a 66% chance of gaining a corresponding potion or spell effect. You begin an adventure with a number of uses of this ability equal to half your level (minimum of one), and may regain expended uses by taking Short or Long Rests.
